If in a relationship, please share your partner's name, how long you've been together, and how you met! Jared Carter, 18 years, met in college at BYU Idaho through roommates.
Do you have children or pets? Tell us about them! We have three kids, Brooklyn who is 16 and a junior in high school. She plays volleyball competitively on a national team and at the high school. Brody who is 14 and a Freshman in high school. He is on the freshman football team and also hopes to play volleyball for the high school. Bronson who is 11 and a sixth grader in middle school. He enjoys playing in his first year of Pop Warner tackle football and fits in time for volleyball for his school as well. What I love most about my kids is how close they are and supportive of each other. They are all close friends as well as siblings.
Where are you living? Where else have you lived? We currently live in San Marcos, California which is a suburb of San Diego. We have lived here for 9 years now and love every minute of it! Such a great community and 15 minutes from the beach! When we first got married and finished school in Idaho we moved to Olympia, Washington for about a year. A job opportunity took us to Provo, Utah and we lived there for about 7 years. Again Jared’s work provided an opportunity to move to a place I thought I’d never live and only get to visit on vacation San Diego!
What do you do for a living? I’m fortunate to be able to stay home and manage the household.
What are you most proud of doing since graduating from high school? I am most proud of my family and my 18 years of marriage. Jared truly is my best friend and I am so blessed to have him in my life.
What do you want to do but haven’t done yet? I’ve thought about going back to school and finishing my bachelors degree in interior design.
What are your hobbies? How do you like to spend your free time? I enjoy home improvement projects helping friends decorate or share design ideas and cheering on my kids at their games. About 10 years ago I got certified and taught Zumba a a gym which started my interest in fitness. I have raced in a couple of triathlons and now I workout and weight train 5 days a week.
Is there anything you miss or anything about which you reminisce about high school? Since I’ve had kids in high school everything from my high school experience has just flooded me with memories between attending football games in the Pit Crew or long talks in leadership or assembling the layouts in yearbook, it was all so much fun. I think what I miss most would be the care free lifestyle and easy fun I use to have.
Do you have any favorite high school teachers or classes or after-school activities that have made a positive difference in your life? Sports played a big part for me Swim team and water polo was a blast and I have so many fun memories with those friends in the “lane 5 posse”
